Frequently Asked Questions
I work exclusively via secure telehealth for clients located in Minnesota. Sessions take place online, allowing you to join from home or another private space. Many couples and individuals find this format both effective and convenient.
My sessions are 60 minutes. and couples between 60-90 minutes. Most couples and individuals begin with weekly sessions to build momentum and a sense of safety. Over time, some people choose to meet less often. We talk openly about pacing and adjust as needed.
Please give at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule. Late cancellations are charged $75. This helps protect the time you’ve set aside for our work together.
You can schedule through my contact page or reach out directly. I’ll guide you through the next steps and answer any questions before your first session.
Feeling unsure about the first session is normal, especially if therapy feels like a last resort.
The first session is a conversation, not an interrogation. I ask about what brought you in, what feels stuck or painful right now, and what you’re hoping might change. With couples, I pay close attention to how you interact and where things get tangled. You don’t need to have the right words.
I help slow things down and make sense of what’s happening. Most people leave the first session feeling clearer about whether this feels like the right place to continue.
A lot of people worry about this, especially if they aren’t used to talking about feelings. You’re not expected to have a speech prepared. I ask questions, reflect on what I notice, and help put words to things that may feel jumbled or buried. Silence is okay, too. We go at a pace that feels manageable.
Feeling comfortable matters. Therapy works best when you feel understood and not judged. Many clients say they choose me because they want someone direct, warm, and human.
If you value honesty, are willing to look at your part in patterns, and want real change rather than surface fixes, this is often a good fit. A first session helps you decide.
I work best with couples who feel stuck in high conflict or emotional distance and still care deeply, even if they’re unsure about the future. Many feel like they speak different languages or have walls up that they don’t know how to take down.
I also work with women in midlife who feel anxious, overwhelmed, or worn down and want both practical tools and a deeper understanding.
Sometimes. Many clients want tools they can actually use at home. This might include communication exercises, reflection questions, or noticing certain reactions during the week. I keep it practical and realistic.
It’s important that my clients are honest about the work they do between sessions to ensure we’re working toward what they want to achieve. The goal is to help therapy show up in real life, not add another burden.
